THE LOST SOUL

By: J. Sison

Stray in the middle
of nowhere,

Where the place is so
dark and full of razor-sharp weeds,

A large empty space
inside my mind,

It seems my time
is out of this world.

That is how I look at
myself,

Lost in this reality,

Trying to look for
answers,

Grasping for truth,

In search for my true
self.

Walking along the
dangerous path of my journey,

Where troubles could
come to me in that dark and bushy place,

A question suddenly
pops out of my mind,

Will I be able to
find my way?

Will I be able to
conquer my fears?

Will I be able
to fight this thing within me?

That bothers me,

Torturing me,

Am I going to find my
true self?

Wandering around in
the middle of nowhere,

Where doubts of
finding my way back home seized me,

An old man came
towards me

And asked for water
and food, once he had it,

He told me about
the journey he had been,

How hard he had
traveled,

How long he had spent

Enduring that same
dangerous path,

In search for his own
true self.

Talking while resting
in the middle of nowhere,

With the old man who
is on his way home after finding himself in the journey,

Telling me
things he experienced,

No matter how hard
the road is,

No matter how
difficult to cross rivers,

No matter how high
the mountains are,

No matter how long
the journey is,

You will have the
chance

To conquer and find
your true self.

So I continued the
journey along the middle of nowhere,

Where I left the old
man cheering me on with his words of wisdom,

I promised myself one
thing for sure,

That no matter
how perilous the road is,

No matter how
difficult to cross rivers,

No matter how high
the mountains are,

No matter how long
the journey is,

I will have the
chance,

I will conquer and
find my true self.
